  Andrew S. Kyres brings a distinguished record of achievement as an educator, former business owner and finance executive to his current position as a candidate for Crown Point City Council.

Mr. Kyres's community service includes terms as Board Member and Past Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Lake County Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is on the Advisory Board of Commonwealth Business College and a member of the Lake County Community Development Committee. Andrew is also on the Editorial Advisory Board of Hoosier Banker Magazine, a member of the Board of Directors for the Crown Point Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves Crown Point on the Economic Development Commission.

Since June 2000, he has been Vice President of Business Development for Sand Ridge Bank. His main duties include to retain and enhance relationships with current customers, create and monitor a tracking system for customer calling, cultivate and develop new market opportunities, and co-manages the Schererville Office on US 30. Over 25 years ago, he began his work as co-owner and manager of the Odyssey Restaurant in Merrillville. He also serves since 1984 as Adjunct Professor at Purdue University (Hammond and Westville) and Ivy State College in Gary. He teaches courses in Selling, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Finance, Accounting, and Introduction to Business.

Andrew received his Bachelor of Science degree in Management & Administration from Indiana University, Gary, Indiana in 1981, and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Loyola University, Chicago, Illinois in 1983. He speaks fluent Greek and Spanish, and enjoys tennis, biking, yoga, fitness, travel, and reading.

A dedicated leader, Andrew has always given his time and effort to community endeavors. Although his time is limited, he never hesitates to give of himself. He is Treasurer of Sts. Constantine and Helen Cathedral Choir and a Member of the Order of AHEPA as well as a volunteer at St. Anthony Medical Center. He is dedicated to his godchildren, Andrew and Sonya, and his niece and nephew, Melanie and Spiro Pavlou. He lives in Pebblebook, and owes his strong work ethic to his mother and father, Nina and Sam Kyres of Merrillville.
